Solid performance at Witham Hall
It was a beautiful weekend in Lincolnshire for the weekend’s national junior open stage race at Witham Hall.
Day 1 - Stage 1 (Kermesse) was a frustrating one for the team with a strong break getting away pretty early on without any of our boys in it. Despite their best efforts they were unable to bring it back leaving the 7 leaders, including stage winner @max_hinds20 (@fhmasdesign ), with a healthy advantage of around a minute.
Day 2 - Stage 2 (ITT) started early in glorious weather for the short individual time trial. The boys put in superb rides to help put them back in the mix with @oscar_nisbett 6th on stage and 10th on GC, @jack.baldie_ 11th on stage and 12th on GC and @mak_larkin 21st on stage and 20th on GC followed by @dan_cycling_ 28th, @ben_tamplin 50th and @roc_schumacher 71st.
Stage 3 (120k road race) Just over a minute down on GC the team knew they had to go on the offensive in this one to get something out of the race and they did just that with @jack.baldie_ and @oscar_nisbett getting away early on. They were joined by a handful of other riders to form a decent looking break which got a gap of almost a minute on the peloton. Unfortunately for them, @fhmasdesign, sensing the danger, worked hard to help bring them back after a couple of laps and they were reeled in. There were numerous other attacks, but nothing stuck and on the final lap the race was mostly back together. In the end the stage was won by @oliver__gill (@tofautieveryoneactivemajaco ) who held on after attacking with half a lap to go.
It was a great effort by all the boys, particularly on the final day, they worked really hard and put in some strong performances to come away with a lot of positives from the weekend.
Thanks to @teamonform for putting on a great event
